In April of 2018, Suzzette Metcalfe, founding board member of Savage Support and Chef/Owner of The Pasta Tree on Milwaukee’s near east side, began hosting what she christened as The International Women’s Series. A monthly event, it featured local women from the arts, business, community service, hospitality and media who selected a menu with Suzzette and explained their life’s passion to a paid audience. Proceeds from the event benefited a number of local non profits including Savage Support. Our President, Deanna Savage, told her own story and of our organization while serving up a delicious Lamb Bolognese in September 2018. When the series conclude in March of this year, Suzzette forwarded a check for $1300 to our general fund. We are so grateful to Suzzette for creating this series and to all the participants in it.
So what’s new for the IWS in 2019? Besides a new series of Dinner/Lectures, Suzzette has partnered with Milwaukee’s Mob Craft Brewing on an IWS Rhubarb IPA. Available at The Pasta Tree and numerous bars and restaurants, this zesty brew will raise funds for local charities and create greater awareness of their missions.
